Emphysema as a possible complication of infant respiratory distress syndrome leading to lung transplantation

چکیده
Infant respiratory distress syndrome (IRDS) develops among premature infants due to structural immaturity of the lungs and insufficient production pulmonary surfactant. Nowadays, treatment takes place under conditions intensive care includes oxygen therapy, mechanical ventilation, exogenous supplementation surfactant antenatal corticosteroid therapy. The IRDS, especially may lead complications which can contribute developing a severe dysfunction system. Unavailability pharmacological IRDS development barotrauma ventilation in our patient led forming interstitial emphysema. In this case report, lung transplantation was performed as an only successful therapeutic option.

Adult respiratory distress syndrome as a complication of postanginal sepsis.
Adult respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) was described in 1971 by Petty and Ashbaugh. Since that time it has been reported in association with many disease entities. We report a case in which a patient with postanginal sepsis, also known as Lemierre's syndrome, had development of ARDS.

Transfusion-related acute lung injury (TRALI) is a potentially life-threatening complication of blood component transfusion. It is relatively underdiagnosed entity in neonates with scant literature. We report a case of TRALI in a preterm neonate developing acute respiratory distress within 6 h of blood product transfusion in the absence of preexisting lung disease. Prompt ventilator and support...
متن کاملValidity of Spo2/Fio2 Ratio in Detection of Acute Lung Injury and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome
Introduction: One ofdiagnostic criteria for Acute Lung Injury and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome is pao2/fio2 (PF) ratio 300 for ALI or 200 for ARDS. This criteria requires invasive arterial sampling. Measurement of Spo2/Fio2 (SF) ratio by pulseoximetry may be a reliable non invasive alternative to the PF ratio. Methods and Materials: In a cross sectional study we enrolled 105 sample o...
متن کاملA preterm pig model of lung immaturity and spontaneous infant respiratory distress syndrome.
Respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) and bronchopulmonary dysplasia remain the leading causes of preterm infant morbidity, mortality, and lifelong disability. Research to improve outcomes requires translational large animal models for RDS. Preterm pigs delivered by caesarian section at gestation days (GD) 98, 100, 102, and 104 were provided 24 h of neonatal intensive care, monitoring (pulse oxim...
